Introduction

Bishop Auckland football club is a relatively new client for Demeter, having taken up their services in December 2020.

The club, which is over 100 years old and have their base at Heritage Park, are currently members of the Northern League Division One.

The Problem

During our unique daily checking system alerts process of the club’s water usage, using our Utilities Manager software, an increase in consumption was identified at 12,000 litres per hour.

Due to the rapid increase in usage, a leak was presumed to be the problem however the leak was underground and therefore not visible.

The Solution

We quickly contacted the football club to inform them of the large increase in water usage, due to the urgency of the situation the water supply was immediately isolated.

A team of Demeter engineers was subsequently despatched to the football club to investigate further.  The damaged underground pipework was successfully located and repaired to ensure no further leaks.

Outcome

Without the rapid intervention of the Demeter team, as the leak was not visible above ground, within hours the cost to the football club would have been £4,500 in just seven days.

Using our Utilities Manager software and analysis of water usage bespoke to individual clients needs, enabled the increase in water to be identified immediately and the client informed.

Our client was delighted with the result:  “Thanks for the call this morning, Water shut off 11.00am.  The service has paid for itself already.”
