We are delighted that we have been shortlisted, along with our client Barchester Healthcare, in the prestigious Edie Sustainability Leaders Awards 2021 in the Water Management category after submitting a joint collaborative entry.

We have worked together since 2012 and decided to join forces and submit a joint award entry to highlight the work we have carried out in water management and sustainability over many years.

The Water Management category recognises the best examples of effective water management with the awards being the UK’s largest in sustainability, recognising excellence across the spectrum of green business; from the best efficiency programmes through to product innovations.

We currently work with 136 of Barchester’s care homes, proactively monitoring water usage within the estates.  Using our Utilities Manager software and data logging equipment, our tailored early detection monitoring systems and proactive customer service is leading to early identification of water leaks and misuse which in turn is leading to cost savings and a reduction in water usage.

Water management is a valued part of both companies’ values and ethos with both businesses investing considerable time and resources to ensure sustained reductions of water use.  In one year, Demeter were able to save Barchester over £300,000 in water costs whilst also saving over 3 million litres of water.

After working collaboratively together on several projects, we decided to embark upon a joint award bid as we looked to further strengthen our relationship and show our support for sustainability and the protection of such an important natural resource.
