Our client is a large school based in Newcastle, they have multiple sites and have been a customer of Demeter for several years.
An increase in water usage was identified via our unique daily checking system alerts process, this occurred on a Sunday morning in January. The suspected burst was causing water to escape at 1,800 litres per hour.
Following our rapid identification of the problem over the weekend, our team sent an alert at 9am on a Sunday morning.
The school have their own on-site supervisors who were quickly dispatched. After an initial inspection inside the school, the engineer found no issues, however, on further inspection of the school grounds a burst pipe was located in the allotment area.
The water supply was turned off and the repair carried out by the inhouse maintenance team.
The burst could have caused the school an extra £800 every week, with our rapid discovery and intervention the problem was quickly sourced and repaired.
